For a
considerable amount of time as a Born Again Christian, I also understood this verse as a
layman. Until I was truly ready and willing to listen to The Spirit, I would remain
controlled by the spirit of darkness. The Day, for the veil to be removed would come
by The Word of The Lord, and illuminate a clouded mind, causing the mist of unconsciousness
to resolve.
There appeared to be a Neon
light switch triggered by my interest in four words of the preceding verse. Those
four words are:
beautiful are the feet
As soon as I read the verse
with attention to those four words, I questioned The Lord in regards to His
Interpretation. Was it His intention to imply what I understood? Did He have a
reason for His choice of words which caused me to believe in an improper interpolation of
His Word.
I had always believed in the
saying : " Sugar and Spice and everything nice." In other words, I had
been convinced that peaceful preachers were proper, while those who chose the path of
hellfire and damnation were not. I had been convinced that honey attracts while
vinegar separates. I would soon come to understand Light attracts and darkness
conceals. Understanding creates hunger while ignorance abates The Truth.
During my contemplation of
the thought, I realized the true need for deeper studies in The Word of God. I
proceeded to read the original text to try to understand what The Lord was saying. I
understood this need, as there appeared to be a contradiction.
Additional studies proved
the need to search, reference, and define; thereby fulfilling the prophecy of line upon
line, and precept upon precept. The true meaning, the intended interpretation, my
own interpolation; would develop and grow uniformly, as expected, until all the seeds of
understanding had flourished into a confident hedge of purpose, revealing His Faithful
Calling.
My initial understanding was
as most, The Lord is pleased with the peaceful preachers. But this is not what He is
continually implying to each and every one who has an ear. The word
"beautiful" does not apply to one's comliness in such a fashion. There is
a reference to timing, trust, stature, dependence, deliverance, etc. in regards to the
individual who is a fulfillment of this verse.
The conclusion of
understanding can only come with a further study of this verse by using additional verses
as cross references to explain the message that is being provided by The Creator.
