The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said
unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into
the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. He was so
convinced of what he was seeing

was the truth, that he would not change his opinion or belief; to the point, they
had become his god and he would not allow anyone to change his mind. Could your
perspective be blinding you of receiving The Truth? So what is your view? Do you realize
your view might not be the whole truth?

To
better explain the point:
Consider the man who was told by another, if he touched the overhead power line, it would
instantly kill him. He continued, to try to explain to his prideful neighbor, that
the line had millions of volts surging through it. But his neighbor would not
believe what he was being told. He answered with his own opinion and belief. He did
not believe that by just touching the power line, it could do such a thing. His
opinion was that he could touch the power line and nothing would happen. His belief
appeared to be set as hard as concrete, and as stable as a mountain; but because it was
not based upon truth, it did not line up with the truth.
If that did not drive
the point home, here is another word picture:
Four men were sitting on opposite sides of a table with one coffee cup between them.
When asked what the cup looked like, each gave their opinions and beliefs based
upon what they saw. One saw only a cup with a handle, one saw a cup with a red heart
on it's side, another stated he saw a cup with a mountain scene on the side, while the
last said all he could see was a white cup. All four were correct but each man was
able to see only his own perspective. None of the four would believe the possibility
that the others were telling the truth.
The moral of this
story is:
Your opinion or belief do not matter, and are worth nothing; if they are not based upon
the truth. Without a willingness to receive the truth, The Truth will remain
unknown to the prideful.
