THE SELF WILLED DEADBOLT

One day when I came home from my rounds, my wife met me in the yard. She was on her way into the house; she told me, that she was unable to get into the house for some reason. The door appeared to be locked, she said to me. I asked her why she locked the door, she then said that she didn't. She couldn't understand how the door became locked.
We proceeded to the front door, and amazingly it was locked. The door had two locking mechanisms, one - the door knob itself, and the other was a deadbolt. The door knob was not locked but the deadbolt was locked. We used the key to gain entry and found no signs of the door being tampered with. I immediately assumed that someone had entered the house, ( possibly a burglar ) and I proceeded down the hallway to the back door to see if it was as well locked, which it was.
I had thought maybe as we were coming in the front door, he was going out the back door. But it had two locks as well and both were still as normal, both locked. I checked the house throughout to see if he was hiding somewhere, but there was no one any where in the house. I proceeded to check all the windows to see if they had been opened, or used as a quick exit; but I realized that they were crank out windows and that would not be possible for someone to get out of the house that way because of their small size, much less close them after they had exited. Needless to say, there was no one anywhere in the house; and there were no signs any one had been there.
So how did the deadbolt get locked? Any one that knows any thing about deadbolts, knows that they will not lock themselves. They don't work that way, they have to be turned manually with a key or with the thumb latch. That is, from the inside with thumb latch or the outside with they key. But you can not make them latch on their own with out doing one or the other. We know because we tried repeatedly, and every time we tried, our efforts were unsuccessful.
So now you ask, " How did the door get locked?" I knew the answer before I was even finished trying to find the answer to the question, but I was one of those with little faith, because I hesitated through unbelief. No one needs to try explain to me what had just occurred.
The more I tried to disprove what I knew, the more I realized the truth, and wanted to acknowledge the truth which now I eagerly do give God the glory.
Now the question was, " Why?" The answer to that question is simple. The Lord was trying to show me how weak my faith was, that there was still a remnant of unbelief in me. I will admit that I still have unbelief and lack of faith at times, which is revealed in my walk at times. The Lord was simply trying to show me that all things are possible with God and no matter how we try to rationalize and explain it away, the truth cannot be denied. Such a simple but powerful lesson.
