FRIEND OR FOE

wpe2C.jpg (1840 bytes)

I was making my rounds one day, and as I was in the process of traveling on a narrow and winding road, I came upon a very young child and her puppy that were in the center of the road. I had to come to an almost complete stop that I might miss them, doing them no harm. I proceeded on down the road without having given the child warning to get out of the road. As I proceeded down the road, a vehicle was approaching me extremely fast and in a reckless fashion. I tried my best to warn the oncoming car of the danger he was about to be faced with, but there was no sign of acknowledgment and change in his manner of driving.
In both cases I was at the mercy of God, and I could only trust in the grace of God to be with all of us at such a critical time. Should I have done more to change the course of events in either case? Should I have given them warning or should I have just said, " It will all be all right " ? Would the love of God which is present in a man, allow that man to be a foe by not interceding or be a friend by taking an active part in the salvation of that person? When you know someone is doing something that would harm themselves, would you be their friend by telling them the truth, could you be their enemy by allowing them to continue the same way?
What if the man I met coming so fast, knew that just around the next curve the road had fallen away with the torrential rain received the night before? Would I be his friend or his enemy by trying to advise him to slow down and be careful?
The other day the Lord provided me the opportunity to witness to an individual that was most assuredly heading down the wrong road. Because of the love of God, I wanted so much to tell the individual about what he was doing and where he was headed. I wanted to be his friend by telling him the truth. I didn't want to be his enemy and just let him go on doing as he had been. I didn't have the courage to continue on my path knowing that I had failed being a friend by speaking the truth.
Each and every time that the Lord makes an opportunity for me to share the truth of the gospel, the glory of the Lord, to lift up the name of my precious Savior, Lord, and Master Jesus Christ The Lord; woe is me if I do not do just that. I hope and trust in the grace of God that I will never fail him to be His friend by being a friend to all those in need.
Please, I ask you now to hear this final statement, consider yourself in the presence of the Almighty and the Lord allowed you to hear a voice of a man who was in hell, one which you had considered your best friend and you hear him say to you, " You called me your friend but you never told me the truth about heaven and hell, and the truth was that the only way to be saved was by the blood shed by the Lord Jesus Christ. "
Now will you please tell me today about the Lord Jesus Christ and all that he has done for me, because you are my friend. I don't want to spend an eternity in hell where I will never forget any thing, where I will never have my desires satisfied, and where I will constantly be reminded of that which I can never be a part of. Help me to know the glory of God now, rather than later when it will be too late for me to share in it.
