WELCOME
"
AM I SMOKE OR A FRAGRANCE "
IN
THE NOSTRILS OF GOD ?
I recall the day when the sweetest
smell completely took control of my situation I was caught up in as I noticed I could not
think of any thing but the perfume that someone was wearing. It was such an attractive
perfume. Immediately I was reminded of the Lord's words: "Be full of love for others,
following the example of Christ who loved you and gave himself to God as a sacrifice to
take away your sins, and God was pleased, for Christ's love for you was like sweet perfume
to him." As the perfume saturated the air around me, I was reminded of the occasion
the Lord tells us of how Mary took a jar of costly perfume and anointed Jusus' feet with
it and wiped them with her hair and the house was filled with the fragrance. This very
sweet smell reminded me of how Jesus was a sweet-smelling sacrifice that pleased God well;
just as He has intended for us, we are also to have a similar sweet smell that will rise
up into the heavens and completely overtake Him. I want my old man dead (broken in pieces)
to release a sweet smell.
May the Lord have mercy on any of us
who falls into the trap of being one of those who say, " Keep to your self, I can't
have any thing to do with you, don't come near me, you'll defile me, I must remain
separate, I must separate myself from your kind, I'm too sacred for you, I'm holier than
thou! " Such people are smoke in the nostrils of God, they are a fire that burns all
day long. I myself want very much to remain a sweet-smelling savour to the Lord rather
than smoke in His nose. Who of us can stand for very long with your nose full of smoke,
for it is an infuriating pain many prefer to do without. I realize that my
foolishness causes my own corruption and stink but by the grace of God has been replaced
with a sweet smell. I hope and pray the day will not come that I have hardened my heart to
the extent that because I have become haughty and stiff-necked with roving eyes to catch
the glances of others, tripping along in the way; that the Lord must finally say, "
It shall come to pass, that instead of you having a sweet smell, you shall have a stink;
instead of a sash, a rope; instead of a full head of hair you shall be bald; instead of
fine clothing or a robe you shall wear a sack; all your beauty will be gone, and replaced
with shame and disgrace. "
So what will happen should I lose my
sweet smell and have it replaced with a stench even the Lord can not bear. The Lord has
been trying to tell me that we are the world's seasoning, to make it tolerable, we are the
salt of the earth; and if we should lose our flavor, what will happen to the world? and we
ourselves will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as useless. It is not possible that we
should regain our flavor.
I am now reminded of what the Lord
has told us if we refuse to be reformed by his instruction and walk contrary to His ways
and leading; which of those things that will come on us and overtake us are; that He will
bring a sword upon us, He will send pestilence among us, and He will deliver us into the
hand of the enemy, and He will not smell the sweet smell which we once had.
I myself want to protect the precious
ointment in a container which has been renewed and remains in excellent shape, to always
know that the sweet-smelling savour is reaching the throne of God. HOW ABOUT YOU?
